Pauline Capretta Obituary

Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Friend and one of America's “Greatest Generation”, Pauline Mary Capretta, 96, passed away peacefully on April 13, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by treating others with love, generosity, respect, and kindness.

Pauline was born in Akron, Ohio on January 8, 1928 and grew up in Akron's “North Hill” neighborhood. She later moved to Cuyahoga Falls where she resided for over 70 years. Pauline was a life-long parishioner of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls. She was a woman ahead of her time. Pauline worked full time beginning in the 1960s as a sales associate

at the W.T. Grant Company in Cuyahoga Falls and then began her career at the Stow-Kent O'Neil's Department Store in the early 1970s. She had impeccable taste, an outstanding work ethic, and an eye for detail which made her one of the most sought-after sales associates in the men's department. She won many service awards at O'Neil's and developed many friendships there.

Pauline was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a class-act lady who always went above and beyond to make others feel welcome everyday of her life. She never took “no” for an answer if she offered you a meal, dessert, snack, or a drink. Friends and relatives learned to say “yes” because that was the only way to make her happy.

Pauline's ability to recover from serious illnesses while in her nineties amazed all who knew her. Many believed she had nine lives! Her determination, energy, and love for her family continued until the very end when Alzheimer's Disease took its toll.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Capretta; son, Ronald Capretta; parents, Joseph and Josephine Jacoby; and brother, Henry Jacoby.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Marino (Charles); granddaughters: Amy Capretta (Ryan Geers) and Allison Marino; grandsons: Ryan Capretta (Nina), Adam Capretta (Mallory) and Matthew Marino (Brittany); great grandchildren: Jack Geers, Ava Geers, Maxton Capretta, Amelia Capretta, Dante Marino and Vincent Marino; sisters: Virginia Andriette and Joann Trego; daughter-in-law, Donna Capretta, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
