Raymond J. DiNuoscio

Raymond J. DiNuoscio, 77, passed away Friday February 12th, 2021.

Raymond was born and raised in the North Hill area of Akron and was the son of James and Jean (Cianchetti) DiNuoscio. He had been a resident of Tallmadge since 1999.

Raymond was a 1965 graduate of North High School and went on to earn a B.A. in social studies and M.A. in secondary education from the University of Akron. He taught social studies for the Buckeye Local school system in Medina County for 32 years before retiring in 1997. During his teaching career, Raymond taught over 5,000 students and was nominated for the Medina County Teacher of Excellence award. After retiring from teaching, he spent 3 years working at Four Corners map shop in Akron. A devout Catholic, Raymond was a member of St. Martha Church for 50 years and more recently a member of St. Bernard Church.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his brother and brother’s wife, David and Janie DiNuoscio; his sister and sister’s husband, Anita (DiNuoscio) and Larry Miller; and his nephew, Matthew Miller.

He is survived by his nephews, Gregg DiNuoscio and Michael Miller; his niece, Jenny DiNuoscio; and his cousin, Stephanie Mullett.

Raymond was a generous man, devoted not only to his faith, his family, and his students, but also to his passion for Ohio’s history and nature. He was dedicated to preservation of Ohio’s parks, nature preserves, and historical sites, and supported dozens of local, national, and international charities.  He will be missed dearly not only by his family, but also by his neighbors, whom he also cherished and was in turn cherished by as part of their own small neighborhood family.

Visitation will be 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).

Mass of Christian burial will follow visitation at 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Church, 44 University Ave, Akron with Fr. Frank Basa officiating.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.
