Ronald Ober Obituary

Ronald J. Ober left this earth for his eternal home in heaven, after a long illness, on March 9, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to Donald and Wanda Ober on August 10, 1939 in Akron, Ohio.

He was a 1957 graduate of Tallmadge High School. Ron was a parishioner of St. Joseph Parish and attended Mass every Sunday. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard, 107th Armed Cavalry. Ron had a long and successful sales career, for over 41 years at Fallsway Equipment Company. He received many honors and awards for being an outstanding and dedicated salesman. Ron loved cars and enjoyed taking long drives with his wonderful wife, Norma, of 58 years. You could find him on a Sunday enjoying time and dinners with family. Ron’s personality and smile lit up a room. He was full of great life advice and was sharing his thoughts and directing family till his last day. His strong faith made his final journey home peaceful.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Wanda Ober; sisters-in-law, Dolores Tartaglia and Mary Salem; brothers-in-law, Frank Tartaglia, Frank Salem and Henry Schmidt; and nephew-in-law, Steve Lane.

He is survived by his loving wife, Norma; sister-in-law, Anita Schmidt; nephew, Matt (Cinde) Tartaglia; nieces, Lisa (David) Craine, Roseann Lane and Holly Schmidt.

He will be missed by his beloved great nieces and nephews, Jacob and Noah Craine, Alexis, Olivia and Nick Tartaglia, Joshua Lane and Aisha and Alyssa Smith and cousins, friends, and good neighbors.

Ron’s memory will forever live in the hearts of all of his friends and family.

A special thank you to the ICU staff at Akron General-Cleveland Clinic for their outstanding care and to the compassionate, kind and angel-like nurses at Hospice Care, who cared for him during his final earthly days.

“I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when my day is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of the happy times, the laughing times, the bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve for me to dry tonight before the setting of the sun, and to think of all the happy memories I leave behind when my day is done.”

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at St. Joseph Parish, 215 Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH with Father David McCarthy officiating.  All are welcome. Due to COVID-19 masks will be required during the service and social distancing will be observed.
