Virginia Lee “Ginny” (Kronenthal) Matyja, 76, passed away January 21, 2021 due to complications from COVID. She was born in Akron and graduated from Tallmadge High School and from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. After getting married she spend the rest of her life in the Portage Lakes.
Ginny retired as a 35 year veteran teacher with Green Local Schools. In retirement she substituted for Chapel Hill Christian Schools. She was a member of The Chapel, Kappa Kappa Iota, Akron Business Womens Association, Stan Hywet Needlework Guild and the Christ Child Society. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, boating and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Allene Kronenthal and her brother, Jack Kronenthal.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 50 years, Frank; sons, Michael (Jody), Gregory (Beth); grandchildren, Justin, Ethan, Sarah, Matthew; sisters, Janelle (John) Rasnick, Joyce (Ben) Linnabary, Janice (Bob) Boyles; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A private service has been held by the family.
Due to the pandemic a celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
Interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery.
